THE QUEEN

When I wrote this album, I knew it would (at least nominally) follow the life of a character seperate from me. Obviously she represents me and the album is about my life, but putting it in this lense helped me seperate from her enough to tell the story. She would start the album as Lilly, a scared and angry child who was being taken advantage of by someone older. Lilly would grow up and try teenage love, find out he was just another boy trying to hurt her. Then, she would meet the King. The King of Hell was charming. He was sweet, protective, and understanding. He was gentle to her. She would trust him. He would give her what she always wanted. She would become his queen, protected in the bubble of his anger, never again to be hurt. Except by him. His warmth, his kindness, his smile. They would all vanish, and she would never be quite sure when it had happened. But she would take what she had learned from her past, what she had learned from keeping the King at bay. And she would decide to use what he had given her against him, truly become the Queen. She finally found herself escaping. While she would never quite be rid of the effects of her time with the King, she would do all in her power to find herself again. Put down the crown and forget him. For now, that's where we leave her story.
