I wanted to share some of my favorite characters! I’m in a rambly headspace and I feel like gushing honestly, there is no deeper reason I’m just feeling like a goof today. Yes some of these may seem “cringy”, I don’t care. Some are deadly serious, some of them are just little fuckers. THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE WELL WRITTEN EITHER. It is 2:14am, I am tired, I don't care. I just wanna tell you about my favorite little guys. This is in no particular order and these certainly isn’t even close to all the characters I love dearly, this is just a start. I’m sure there will be more installations of this series.

Miriam - The Prince Of Egypt

She has to be first on my list. Almost certainly my favorite movie of all time, and she is certainly my favorite character. Growing up as a little Jewish girl, I definitely intentionally tried to be like her growing up. She was the ideal of Jewish femininity to me, and looking back I still have such a strong fondness for her. She is just genuinely incredible.

Liliana Vess - Magic The Gathering

Look sometimes a girl has to commit atrocities, LEAVE HER ALONE. She is the only MTG character I have ever really cared to learn more about. Her story is so compelling to me, the struggle against Nicol Bolas especially. Honestly, the animatic to In The End got me. I will always remain salty that GIDEON got a card saying “Gideon’s Sacrifice” as if Liliana wasn’t literally trying to do the same thing.

Claudia de Lioncourt de Pointe du Lac - Interview With The Vampire

Claudia. My absolute heart. I love her to death. She hit me HARD as a disabled girl whose disability makes them look younger than they are. Everytime someone in the streets asks me how old I am only to hit on me in the next sentence I think of her. I have loved every portrayal of her from book to show DEARLY.

Peridot - Steven Universe

Peridot, where do I even start. She is everything to me. The highs and the lows, who amongst us wasn’t emotional when she first felt the rain. Her character arc in the main series was so fun, though I don’t love what they did with her in the movie or Future. I loved watching her learn to undo all her past beliefs and question things when presented with new information. I just love her! At the end of the day I love my space nerd!

Dipper Pines - Gravity Falls

No further comment needed. Honestly, if you don’t get it I don’t get you.

The 9th Doctor - Doctor Who

My favorite Doctor and every other answer is wrong. His pain, his glimmer of hope, the way he relearns how to find reasons to keep going. The contrast from him being literally prepared to blow himself up in episode one to him truly finding care and deep friendship with Rose towards the end and learning to let that kind of thing happen. I have never been as haunted by anything as I have the moment when he realizes it’s a Dalek in the room with him. Christopher Eccleston you have my respect forever.

Donna Noble - Doctor Who

I’ll be the first to admit that when I was younger Martha was my favorite companion, however as I grew up I really didn’t like the way they handled her character. Freema Agyeman is wonderful and it’s nothing against her, I just think they handled Donna better. Plus every time that Donna gets to humble the Doctor I cheer so hard, the Doctor imo needs someone to keep him in check and they finally let a companion do that THANK YOU. I will forever love the sass and the smarts and the empathy and honestly everything that Catherine Tate brings to the table.

Persephone - Hadestown

Amber Gray is a Goddess on this earth. Her portrayal of Persephone is magnetic and I can’t look away. Amber Gray’s Persephone brings so much heart to the musical and honestly watching Persephone’s arc is addictive. She is truly at the heart of what makes the musical work, and I don’t think the musical would explore its themes nearly as well without her.

Elphaba - Wicked (THE BOOK)

OK I KNOW I KNOW but let me have one super obvious, cliche favorite character. Any queer theater kid gets why I put her here. I specifically chose the book version because I think she is much more embodied and “herself” in the book, and I think the book does a better job at giving us her as a character with all her flaws and sharp edges. The musical version, while incredible in its own right, just isn’t the version I’m drawn to. I like the mess the book gives us.

Prue - Charmed

Look, I’m an oldest child. I get you Prue. I love you Prue. I get you on such a different level. Your serious nature, your refusal to back down, your pride. Ugh. I used to watch Charmed and rewatch it and rewatch it, and Prue always stuck out to me because of how much I get the role she was put in.

Ok, one bonus. Raelle Collar and Scylla Ramshorn from Motherland: Fort Salem. LOOK IM SORRY I AM WEAK TO THE TOXIC YURI. IM SO SORRY I MUST SPEAK MY TRUTH. The characterization hooked me and I loved watching everything that happened there.

Anywho, now I'm going to go watch Steven Universe or Gravity Falls. Not sure which. Have a good night.
